I saw this on another forum, and I started putting this into my training, I like this alot! I think this could also be very applicable to self defense as well as MMA. Being the aggressor can shut the opponent down quickly.

thats a young Vitor explaining a style that worked for him in the beginning of his career.I dont think you could pull that off with todays fighters.

I'd say you are right. I think it could be valuable in self defense or street fighting because of the aggressive approach it takes, being charged like that can be intimidating to some people. I do know one thing, it makes for a great workout, punch and run, great for cordination!

Ed Reed to Miss the Start of Regular Season

Postby yanga1555 » Thu Jul 22, 2010 5:39 am

Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed is recovering from offseason hip surgery and he is expected to be placed on the physically-unable-to-perform list, missing the first six games of the season.

Reed had estimated in a recent radio interview he was only 35 percent healthy. He said Tuesday his rehab is a slow process. With training camp drawing near, the chances of Reed landing on the PUP list increased.

Reed, 31, missed four games during December because of a variety of injuries, including problems with his neck, hip and groin.

"I'm going to get out there when I feel good. I can't give you a date. I don't know," Reed said.

Ravens veterans are schedule to report to training camp on July 28. But it seems that Ed Reed is not healthy enough to join the camp on time. And it is likely that the Ravens will miss him at the beginning of the season.

Once Ed Reed is well and ready, he will be back. At this moment, he should focus on reconstructing his whole hip.

thats called a Fitzsimmons shift, nothing new, or in JKD a straight blast...the forward pressure not thetechnique would work. in MMA i suspect you would find lots of success. most mma guys can't box or have footwork that sucks. against Anderson Silva however you may end up napping

Duck under their attack and DL Takedown can be a good defence to it - dig your shoulder right into their Solar Plexus.

also this attack is why you never back up, that puts you into his power, and you play cath up the most common and worst American game ever.try going away at an angle and then as Basil said, dbl leg all day.

Chuck Lidell at his best could back-up , off angle and take of a forward charging opponent. In JKD you often hear the black and white statement that you cannot punch running backwards, which is technically true but you can off angle and you can go for a double leg take down.

This is why Roy Harris, a JKD instructor and BJJ blackbelt does not push the straight blast as a priority in training. It is too easy to counter. That being said, good forward pressure is a real asset in a fight, both in sport and reality.
If I am special it is only because I know I am not.
